Any reference to “Users” in this document means a reference to our Customers, Authorized Users, or visitors of the Website.

1. What are cookies?

When you interact with our Platform, we strive to make that experience easy and meaningful. When you visit our Website, it may store or retrieve information on your computer or mobile device, mostly in the form of cookies. Cookies are text files containing a small amount of information that web browsers place on a computer’s hard drive. Data collected by cookies are sent back to the originating web server on each subsequent visit to our website or on other websites that recognize the specific cookie.

We use cookies for different purposes (see in detail below). Cookies help us understand how users and visitors use a website, remember a user’s device and login details, and store website preferences. We may use other technologies that work similarly to cookies, such as web beacons, pixels, ad tags, and device identifiers.

2. What cookies do Centus use?

The cookies used on our Website can be distinguished in terms of their function and purpose as follows:

Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the provision and proper operation of our Website. We cannot provide you with the basic functions of the Website without these cookies. For example, an essential cookie may be used to prevent a User from having to log in each time they visit a subpage of our Website in the same session.

Functionality cookies

Functionality cookies allow us to retrieve information about your preferences and settings regarding our Website when you revisit it (in a new session) later. In this way, the Website "remembers", for example, your username and log-in data between two sessions. These cookies are not absolutely required for the operation of the Website but make the Website more convenient to use.

Performance cookies

These cookies help us to understand how you interact with our Website by collecting and analyzing information about your access and subsequent use of the Website. For example, these cookies may count the number of Users visiting our Website, measure session durations or track your clicks and visits of subpages of our Website. This helps us to gain insights into how we can optimize the Website and further develop it based on User demands. However, we only obtain aggregated reports and information through which we cannot identify you personally.

Targeting cookies

These cookies are used to identify and evaluate your interests based on your browser activity (e.g. when you visit our Website). This information is used by our partners and us to provide you with customized (so-called "personalized" or “targeted”) content and advertising (e.g. video suggestions that are relevant to you, display of personalized advertising on the advertising banner of a website you visit). Targeting cookies are used by the partners listed below when you access and use their content on our Website. Please note that we cannot control the use of the transmitted information by our partners.

3. How long are cookies stored?

Some of the cookies used on the Website are session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close your browser. Other cookies are persistent cookies, which are stored beyond the individual session. Unless otherwise indicated below, persistent cookies used on the Website are stored for a maximum of 2 years. Please refer to the cookie list in our cookie banner for more details on the individual storage periods

4. How does Centus deal with data collected through cookies?

Data that we collect from the cookies is processed in accordance with the provisions of this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy. For instance, this data may be accessed by our employees, subcontractors, and certain affiliates. Some of our subcontractors and affiliates are located outside the European Union. We transfer data to them based on standard contractual clauses, an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission and/or binding corporate rules when necessary. Please see below and in our Privacy Policy for details.

Cookies that are necessary for the operation and provision of our Website and its functions (“strictly necessary cookies”) may be placed based on statutory legal grounds (e.g., in Germany Sec. 25 (2) No. 2 TTDSG) and Personal Data collected through these cookies may be processed based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). If you live in the EU, EEA, Switzerland, or the UK, you have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to such processing of your Personal Data (cf. Art. 21 (1) GDPR). To do so, you can change your browser settings to block any or specific cookies or to alert you about these cookies in advance (see below for more details).

All other types of cookies (“functionality,” “performance,” and “targeting” cookies), including cookies of third-party services (see section 7 for details), are only activated, and Personal Data collected by these cookies are only processed if you consent to the processing of your data by the respective service. The legal basis for the placing of “functionality,” “performance” and “targeting” cookies is your consent (e.g. in Germany based on Sec. 25 (1) TTDSG) as well as for the data processing in connection with these cookies (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw a granted consent for your respective device in the settings of the cookie banner at any time with future effect.

To change your cookie consent preferences, please visit our cookie banner.

In addition, your web browser may allow you to change your cookie preferences, including deleting and disabling Centus cookies. Please consult the help section of your web browser or follow the links below to understand your options, but please note that if you choose to disable cookies, some features of our Website, Platform or Services may not operate as intended.

Please be aware that restricting cookies may have an impact on the functionality of the Website.

7. Details on the cookies and third-party services

Unless explicitly stated otherwise below, the use of cookies and the data processing related to the following services are based on your consent, which can be freely withdrawn with future effect (see sections 5 and 6 above).

Google Analytics

This Website uses Google Analytics with your consent. These are services of Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, and its affiliated companies ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies to track your interactions with the Website (e.g., access to the Website, views of subpages). We use Google Analytics combined with the extension "anonymize_IP" to ensure an anonymized gathering of IP addresses (so-called IP masking). By activation of this expansion for our Website, your IP address will be truncated by Google inside of the EEA before the transmission to a server of Google in the USA. The complete IP address will only be transmitted in exceptional cases to a server of Google in the USA and it will be truncated there.

Google will use this information on our behalf to analyze your usage of the Website, compile reports about website activities, and perform additional services for us relating to the usage of the Website and of the Internet, such as the evaluation of the paths through which Users arrive at our Website. In addition, Google also processes the transmitted data for its own purposes. We have no influence on this further data processing by Google. Details on data protection at Google, in particular on the type, scope, and purpose of data processing, can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en and at https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.

Please note that there is no adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission for the USA and there is no consistently high level of data protection due to differing legal provisions. The transfer of data to servers used by Google in the USA may therefore give rise to additional risks, for example, it may be more difficult to enforce rights to this data. For data transfers to the USA, we have agreed with Google on the standard data protection clauses of the EU Commission, which also stipulate the implementation of appropriate protective measures for the specific case, which may also include encryption of the data depending on the level of protection required. The transfer of data to Google servers in the USA is therefore based on Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

Google Ads (including the remarketing function)

With your consent, this Website uses the remarketing function of Google Ads, an advertising service of Google. This allows us to display interest-based (also "personalized” or “targeted”) advertising to Users of our Website within the Google advertising network. For this purpose, a cookie is stored on the User’s device. The string of characters contained therein is used to recognize a User when he or she visits websites that are part of the Google advertising network. There, the User may be displayed advertising that relates to content previously accessed on websites that use Google Remarketing. Google decides independently on the specific advertising displayed, in particular the exact timing of the display and the placement of the advertising, as well as the choice of whether our advertising is also presented to you among the various visitors to our website.

The remarketing functions via Google Ads are performed by Google across multiple devices. Google can therefore recognize your usage across different devices you use and link them across devices. To do this, Google records when you have logged into your account for Google services (such as Gmail, YouTube or the Chrome browser) in the browser on a device and relates your usage on this device to your Google account. This cross-device link allows Google, for example, to show you our advertisements that may be of interest to you, for example, after your visit to our Website, even if you are using a different device.

If you do not want this link to your Google account, you can log out of your Google account before you visit our website and thus prevent a link. You can also prevent the cross-device link from the outset by ensuring that personalized advertising is deactivated in the settings of your Google account. You can configure the corresponding settings here. The deactivation is also described in more detail by Google under the following link: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/2662922?hl=en#stop_goog_p13n.

We explicitly point out that the servers used by Google are located in the USA, among other countries. As we have already explained, there is no adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission for the USA and there is no consistently high level of data protection due to differing legal provisions. We transfer your data based on standard data protection clauses of the EU Commission (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR). Please see above (section 7. A) for details.

Further advertising networks/marketing tools (including remarketing functions)

(1.) With your consent, further marketing tools (see below) are used on the Website which allows us to display interest-based (also "personalized" or "targeted") advertisements for our Services via various advertising networks and to measure the success, reach and acceptance of our advertising. The marketing tools generally enable the respective tool providers:

  • To track User behavior on our Website (e.g. clicks on certain links and offers, visits to certain subpages), which can then be stored and analyzed in usage profiles;
  • To display interest-based advertising to Users in the respective advertising network (e.g. on Facebook, Twitter or Reddit, see below), based on the evaluated User behavior, including the display of advertising for offers previously viewed on our Website (so-called "Remarketing");
  • to track the User's interactions with the displayed advertising (e.g. click on the advertising) and his or her subsequent use of our Website (so-called "Conversion Tracking"), whereby the performance of the advertising can be measured and evaluated.

We receive statistical reports about the performance of our advertising showing, for example, conversion rates related to certain advertisements. We do not personally identify individual Users of our website based on the statistical reports provided. We use the insights gained from the performance measurement solely to improve our advertising measures.

(3.) The marketing tools use cookies or similar technologies (such as pixels or JavaScript) on our Website to achieve the above purposes. A direct connection to the Provider of the respective marketing tool is automatically established when the User visits our Website. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data collected through the use of marketing tools by the respective Provider. Below, we inform you according to our state of knowledge.

The respective Provider may receive a cookie ID, the information that you have called up the corresponding subpage of our Website, or clicked on one of our advertisements, as well as technical information about the device used (e.g., the IP address, browser type, information on the operating system, date/time of the visit, URL, time zone and other log data) and information on your location. The Provider may store the data pseudonymized (i.e., based on a user ID) in usage profiles, where the data may be combined with further information collected by the Provider elsewhere (e.g., on third-party websites or in third-party apps). If you are registered with services offered by the Provider (e.g., on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit or Quora), the respective Provider may assign the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered with the Providers’ services or have not logged in, there is a possibility that the Provider will learn your IP address, time slot and other identifying characteristics and link them to the actions assigned to you. The respective Provider may use the information collected for its own purposes and according to its own privacy policy, e.g., to improve products, develop new products, personalize content or advertisement and measure the effectiveness of the Provider’s services (including the advertising services). For more information on the data processing by a Provider, please visit the Provider’s privacy policy (see above).

Please note that the Providers also decide independently on the specific advertising displayed in the advertising network. In specific individual cases, we have no direct influence on which user is presented with an advertisement or which advertisement is played. Only some Providers allow us to make rough restrictions in advance when ordering the advertising on the basis of some limited default settings regarding which user categories can potentially be shown our advertising.

Google Tag Manager

We use the "Google Tag Manager", a service from Google, on our Website. The Google Tag Manager enables us to manage website tags via an interface. Google Tag Manager, which implements the tags, does not place cookies by itself and it does not itself collect any Personal Data. Google Tag Manager takes care of triggering other tags, which in turn may collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If a deactivation has been made at the domain or cookie level, it remains in place for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager.

You can find more information about data protection on the following Google websites:

LinkedIn Plugin

Plugins of the LinkedIn service of LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland ("LinkedIn") are integrated on this Website. You can recognize the LinkedIn plugins by the LinkedIn logo or notice "Share in LinkedIn" on this Website. When you load the Website, including the associated plugin from LinkedIn, and consent to the use of the plugin, LinkedIn receives, to our knowledge, the IP address of the device you are using and the information that your browser loaded the respective parts of our Website, even if you do not have a profile on LinkedIn or are not currently logged in to LinkedIn. This information is transmitted by your browser directly to a LinkedIn server and stored there

If you interact further with the respective plugins, this interaction is also transmitted directly to the LinkedIn server and stored there. User profiles can be created from the transmitted data. If you are logged in to LinkedIn, LinkedIn can directly assign the visit of our Website to your user account. Your interaction with the LinkedIn plugin may also be published on your LinkedIn profile (e.g. when you click on the "Share" button) and displayed there to your contacts.

The LinkedIn plugins use cookies. According to our knowledge, the use of these cookies is necessary for the identification of the user and thus for the provision of the desired plugin function (e.g. when clicking on the "Share Button" for the assignment of the User to his/her LinkedIn user profile). The cookies are stored in your browser for a maximum period of two years.

Please note that we cannot influence the data collection and processing by LinkedIn plugins. We are also not aware of the full scope of data processing (e.g. with regard to the data collected, processing purposes, storage periods, etc.). We inform you at this point according to our state of knowledge. The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by LinkedIn, as well as the related rights and settings options for protecting your privacy, can be found in LinkedIn's privacy policy: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

We point out that LinkedIn may also process data outside the EU/EEA, in particular in the USA. As we have already explained, the transfer of data to servers in the USA may give rise to additional risks, for example, it may be more difficult to enforce rights to this data. For data transfers to the USA, we have agreed with LinkedIn on the standard data protection clauses of the EU Commission, which also stipulate the implementation of appropriate protective measures for the specific case, which may also include encryption of the data depending on the level of protection required. The transfer of data to LinkedIn servers in the USA is therefore based on Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

Intercom's live chat tool collects technical data about your device (e.g. IP address, information about the browser type and operating system used, referrer URL) as well as any information entered into the chat. With the help of a cookie that assigns a pseudonymous identification number (so-called ID) to the browser used, the chat tool can also recognize the browser when the website is visited again at a later time

This enables cross-session customer support via the tool. The cookies used by Intercom are stored for a maximum of 9 months, after which they are automatically deleted. We have concluded a contract with Intercom on data processing so that Intercom processes the data for the above-mentioned purposes in accordance with instructions and on our behalf. Details on the cookies used by the Intercom chat tool can be found at https://www.intercom.com/help/en/articles/2361922-intercom-messenger-cookies.

We point out that Intercom may also process data outside the EU/EEA, in particular in the USA. As we have already explained, the transfer of data to servers in the USA may give rise to additional risks, for example, it may be more difficult to enforce rights to this data. If data is transferred by Intercom to the USA, such data transfers are covered by standard data protection clauses of the EU Commission. The transfer of data to Intercom servers in the USA is therefore based on Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

We use Intercom based on our legitimate interest in providing quick contact and chat options to users of the Website. The cookies used by Intercom are strictly necessary for the provision of the Intercom chat service. Data processing in connection with Intercom is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Microsoft Clarity

With your consent, this website uses Microsoft Clarity, a web analytics service provided by Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland ("Microsoft"). Microsoft Clarity uses cookies to track and analyze your user interactions on our Website. Microsoft may also collect technical data (including the IP Address of your device) and information about the country, region, or location from which the website is used. Microsoft uses the information to evaluate your use of our Website and to create reports about website activity. We receive only statistical data and reports from Microsoft that do not allow us to identify individual users.

Microsoft reserves the right to process the aforementioned data collected via Microsoft Clarity for its own purposes to the extent in accordance with its own privacy policy. The data may be stored by Microsoft in usage profiles and processed, for example, to improve products, develop new products, personalize content or advertisement, and measure the effectiveness of its services (including the advertising services). We cannot exclude that data may also be merged with other data. Please note that we have no influence on the data processing at Microsoft. You can find more information about data processing at Microsoft at https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement.

We explicitly point out that the servers used by Microsoft are located in the USA, among other countries. As we have already explained, there is no adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission for the USA and there is no consistently high level of data protection due to differing legal provisions. Microsoft transfers your data to third countries outside of the EEA (including the USA) based on standard data protection clauses of the EU Commission (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR), among others. Please refer to Microsoft’s privacy statement (see above) for further information.

Further details on data processing of data in relation to Microsoft Clarity are available at https://clarity.microsoft.com/terms and at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/clarity/cookie-list.

(4.) The collected information is stored on servers of the respective Provider in third countries outside the EEA, also in the USA. As explained above, there are additional risks associated with the transfer of data to the USA. We have concluded the standard data protection clauses adopted by the EU Commission with each of the Providers in accordance with Article 46 (2) lit. c) GDPR. These standard data protection clauses are intended to ensure that an appropriate level of data protection is maintained in the third country (USA).
